Eleanora is a reclusive agoraphobic spinster, a rich shut-in raised by her mother and now dwelling alone (not including her devoted domestics, of course) on her family's estate, Seaswell, on an island off the coast of Eden, Maine.
She interacts with the world beyond her home only through correspondence with those she considers to be People of Interest. She reads voraciously, and has a large library filled with rare volumes on subjects ranging from the mundane to the esoteric, and likes to keep abreast of new discoveries. She can be a generous benefactor to those who arouse her curiosity.
