Addie was born in Ashland, her mother's family going all the way back to the Founders. Her parents run a Bed & Breakfast in town, the Midsummer Night's Dream, and her mom in particular is very active in the Hippie and Shakespearean Theater scenes.
Addie began drawing and painting as a kid, a natural talent which her parents encouraged along with any other 'purely creative' enterprise. Her mom pushed her into theater, where Addie discovered that she absolutely hates the spotlight, and much prefers the technical, behind-the-scenes work. Her art these days, while still skillful, feels more and more like a chore her parents make her do: her mother is convinced she's the next Picasso, and is fixated on Addie getting into a prestigious art academy after highschool. She isn't nearly as enthused, but doesn't really see an alternative, and figures it's as good a plan as any other.
Over the summer, she was able to wheedle her way into visiting her father's family in California for a few weeks, where an older cousin introduced her to the Rockabilly scene. Finding it enough of an opposite to her mom's hippie culture, she's started experimenting with 50s fashion, mostly menswear, and spends almost all of her allowance (and some of her art budget!) on it. She's tried to get an after-school job, but her mom just keeps saying she 'needs to focus on her art right now'. Whatever.
