Werewolves: are vaguely discomforted by silver, unless it is special prepared, in which case it hurts them. Wolfsbane also hurts/repels them? Lycanthrophy can be passed on genetically, or through a bite granted by a willing lycanthropic donor on the full moon. The full moon does not force werewolves to change, but it makes changing easier, and there are some cultural practices associated with the full moon. Werewolves that inherit lycanthropy genetically have more control over their shapeshifting and can access intermediate steps as well as a wolf and wolfman form. Werewolves who are infected via a bit can only turn into wolves.
Vampires: Vampires are not killed by sunlight, however they lose all their powers during the day and are more vulnerable.
Generally speaking, pop-cultural knowledge about supernatural creatures and phenomena is not 100% accurate - it is often missing some essential element, but may contain a grain of truth.
Werewolves, Vampires, ghosts and sprites/spirits like the fair folk (and cultural variations) all exist. Demons and angel probably dont, and if they do are way more powerful than we should be dealing with.
