Addie's a Virgin!

Addie quickly informed Mr. Court of the impending addition to their group, then paced awkwardly in the living room. Should she redo her hair again? What about shoes - should she get her shoes? She looked down, and noticed that she hadn't redone her polish since an errant thought had prompted her to pair orangey-peach with gold glitter stars. Oh god, I look like a total girl.

David parked his truck and took a deep breath, trying to calm his heartbeat before he stepped out into the cool night air. The short walk to the front door of Lil's house seemed to take hours, but eventually he reached it and rang the doorbell, blood pounding in his ears.

Addie stared at the door with a look of horror. For a moment, she just flailed, then slapped herself briskly on the cheeks and took a deep breath. Okay. Okay. Cool, calm, collected. Don't spaz out. Don't spaz out. He's just a dude. You can do this!

Opening the door, she smiled much more naturally. "Hey..." Don't say Broseph, don't say Broseph, don't say Broseph! "... dude. Come on in. Lil's upstairs getting some pants on."

David smiled what he hoped was a cool, unruffled smile and stepped into the house. Suddenly something Addie had said clicked in his head.

"Pants?" he asked, "She's pantsless?"

"Well, I mean, I'm not currently observing her right now, so I guess right now she's in a state of, like, quantum pantslessnes? But yeah, we were swimming, so... no pants." She shrugged, feeling awkward, and went to go sit down on the couch. If I pick a middle section, that's gotta be safe, right?

"Oh, swimming. Right." David said, nodding nonchalantly. He noticed with a sense of both excitement and dread that Addie sauntered over (it was definitely a saunter) to the couch and sat in the exact center. He was going to have to sit next to her one way or the other.

He looked around, desperately, taking in his surroundings. He noticed the oversized TV and eyed it appreciatively, trying desperately to find something to start a conversation.

"That's... a nice TV." he said. He immediately regretted saying it.

"Yeah, Mr. Court is like, really into movies and stuff. This is the best place to hang out and watch TV, y'know, plus it's got my best friend ever in it."

David smiled, thankful for the shift in topic.

"You guys are pretty close, huh? How long have you known each other?"

"Since she moved to town, summer before last. I know that makes me, like, a total dork, but I didn't really have any friends before then, so... " She shrugged.

David shrugged.

"Hey, i know the feeling. I mean, Noah's my only real friend."

"Great. Tell her just how much of a loser you are," he scolded himself.

"Or at least he was... you know... before all this."

Lil tromped downstairs, wrapped in her most comfy black jeans and a worn out NIN t-shirt. "Hy David - you bring the movies?"

David turned, surprised as Lil appeared on the stairs.

"Oh! Yes. Movies! Yeah."

He held up the DVDs in question and handed them to her as she came down.

Addie curled her feet up underneath her - hide the sparkles, hide the sparkles! - and shrugged. "So, how many of these movies are there? Like, two?"

"Five! Well... okay, six. But five that matter." She looked to David for confirmation. If he was a Real Fan, he would understand. "We can start with A New Hope - the pizza should be here soon."

David nodded.

"Yeah, the first three are awesome. Episodes two and three have.... I guess some good things in them. But one is just trash. I mean, the midichlorian thing alone should have gotten Lucas tarred and feathered but..."

He glanced over at Addie and quickly stopped rambling.

"...but I guess you'll see for yourself, right?"

He smiled and looked back to Lil, hoping for some sign of how he was doing.

"Two and three have Ewen MacGregor with a beard, at least. Anyway - it's awesome, Addie, you'll see!" Lil was already putting the dvds in the player, but she waved David on to the couch. "We can't watch them *all* tonight, obvs, but we can get through four and five, probably."

David nodded and walked over to the couch, smiling politely as he sat down next to Addie. He wasn't sure exactly what to do here, so he sat forward, hands clasped in his lap. He couldn't help but notice that she was sitting close enough for her knee to graze his. He looked at Addie and gave her what he hoped was a suave glance, but was probably more of a nervous one.

"So... you've really never seen these before?"

Addie looked awkwardly from David, to Lil, and back again. "Is that really such a big deal? I mean, they're movies, right? It's not like everyone ever has seen them before, right?"

David shrugged.

"Well... kinda."

Addie raised her eyebrows and nodded slowly. "Awesome. Great. I don't feel like a freak at ALL now."

Shit David thought.

"Oh, hey, no, I didn't mean that. It's just... I guess this is like your initiation, you know? Besides, sometimes being a freak is... cool."

Smooth.

Trying to shake off some of her awkwardness, Addie shoved at David with her shoulder. "Hey, as long as there's no blindfolds and paddles involved, I should be great, right?" Oh balls, balls, balls, why did I say that?

Lil had been trying to stay quiet to let them chat, but couldn't keep from laughing at that. She turned her head and stuck her tongue out at Addie

"Not that kinda freak. We ready?"

David nodded, trying to push the thoughts of blindfolds and paddles out of his head.

As I'll ever be...

He leaned back somewhat in the couch, trying to get comfortable, but he was acutely aware of the girl sitting next to him and couldn't help glancing over at her nearly every five seconds as Lil got the DVD running.

Just as she was about to press play, her dad stuck his head in the room, smiling at the teens. "Hey ...kids, the pizza girl is just on her way up the driveway-"

The doorbell rang as if on queue, and Mr court shrugged at the three and went to answer the door.

"Okay fine then - I'll grab some plates and stuff. Do you guys want some sodas? I think we have some diet coke and dr peppers."
