Coffee Talk

Argent waited at the small café for Lathra. Outwardly he showed perfect calm, but inward his mind raced with distracting thought and a tension he had not felt in some time. His training had marked Outsiders as enemies, but here he was, meeting a Shadar-Kai, not officially an enemy, but potentially. Keep an open mind, but be vigilant, he thought to himself.

Lathra arrived on time, glad of the chance to get to know the cabaret waiter a little better.

"Argent dear, there you are!"

Argent stands smiling and pulls out a chair for her.

"Thanks for agreeing to come. The hours of our work life can make getting out like regular folks a not so simple task. I've been to this place a couple of times and the hot drinks are nice, and not to fancy... unless you like fancy... which I'm sure they have something... You found the place without trouble?"

"Oh my, no trouble at all!"

Lathra sat gracefully, and stashed her bag beside the chair. "So, my dear, I am eager to get to know you better! What goes on in the busy life of Argent Lundi?"

"Everyone just calls me Argent, but my name is Jean" Argent explains in response. "Where I grew up there were at least three or four other Jeans, hence the nickname and it just stuck with me. I like it so I'm happy with it. Seems to fit better anyway."

"As to what I fill my day with, other than waiting tables, these days it's mostly just getting familiar with the city again and catching up with friends. I've been away for almost two years and I've only been back for a couple of months. It feels different than when I left," he muses.

"Have you been in the city long?" Argent asks, he's mis-colored eyes meeting Lathra's.
