Addie's a Virgin!

David waved awkwardly as Lil's dad entered the room. He'd never met the man before, but he seemed nice enough.

"Uh... Hi, Mr. Court."

He turned to Lil.

"Uh, Dr. Pepper, I guess? Thanks."

Addie, as ever, followed Mr. Court with her eyes as covertly as she could. "Aww yeah, time to bust into that Garlic Monster!" Turning to David, she said "We have that, Sweet-n-Hot, and Lil's Abomination, which is a meat lovers' with extra cheese and pineapple. If you can stand any of those, eat up!"

David pushed himself up and followed her to the kitchen.

"Dude, I'll eat pretty much anything. Umm... I guess I'll have a lilbomination first." He waited until the girls had grabbed their slices and then took a couple for himself.

"You guys do this kinda thing alot, huh?"

"Enough, yeah - well, not Star Wars, obviously."

Lil passed out the soda,s grabbing a diet coke for herself, and ushered the others back into the living room. '"But yeah - dad's set up here is super sweet, and Addie's parents don't care if she is over here."

"And it's WORLDS better than being at my house. My folks run a B&B, so they're 'on' all the time, and there's just strangers there all the time, and - urgh - it's just not fun."

David made a face.

"That must suck. Hey, at least you don't have to see your dad at school every day."

"True - I think you win in the Sucks To Be You Olympics." Addie grinned wolfishly, and took a large bite of her pizza, savoring the intense garlicky flavor. "Mmmmm - m'gonna hunt vampires with my breath!"

David Took a bite of his own pizza and chewed it thoughtfully.

"That's... far less revolting than it seems," he pronounced finally.

He plopped himself back down on the couch, waiting to see if Addie took her spot next to him again.

Addie plonked herself back on the couch, where she'd sat before, this time with a plate full of INTENSE FLAVA balanced on her lap. "Aww right, let's DO THIS, shall we?"

Lil plonked her butt down ion the other side of Addie, dragging over the coffee table to set her soda down on, and reach for the remote.

"Here we go!"

She hit play and the iconic words appeared on the screen...

David took a long swig of his soda and set his food down on the other end of the coffee table for the moment and sat up. He tried to focus on the movie in front of him, but for some reason he kept glancing beside him, hopefully not too obviously. He found that he was unsure exactly what to do with his hands, first folding them in his lap, then moving them to his side, then palm down on his thighs. Finally he decided to lean back and, in a moment of either temporary insanity or caffeine induced bravery, he extended his arm along the back of the couch nonchalantly.

Addie felt her heart start pounding, and her mouth went dry. Taking a sip of her dr. pepper to wet it, she inhaled, swallowed, and started coughing violently.

Oh fuck...

David thought, his own heart leaping into his throat. He quickly withdrew his arm and sat up.

"Uh... You okay?" he asked.

Moving her plate of pizza onto Lil's lap for safekeeping, she untucked her feet so she could hang her head between her knees. Still coughing, she gave a weak thumbs-up.

Lil rolled her eyes and hit pause, patting Addie on the back.

Addie kept coughing, now taking deep, shuddering breaths in between. Her face was red and straining, and she made a fumbling grab for a small bag that was sitting on the other end of the couch.

"Ah crap!" Lil's eye's went wide when she realized things were getting serious, grabbing Addie's purse and reaching in the side pocket to pass over her albuterol.

Addie shoved the inhaler into her mouth, and clicked down on the release. Sweet, sweet relief flooded her face, and in a few moments she set it down, breathing returning to normal, and the redness slowly leaving her face. Wiping the tear tracks off her cheeks, she laughed weakly. "At least now we can say the movie was a tearjerker?"

David's eyes widened when she saw Lil pull out Addie's inhaler.

"Oh fuck..." he muttered.

Well there went any chance he may have had before. He may not have been the most popular with the ladies, but even he knew it was a bad sign when your advances drove someone to a near death experience.

"Are... are you alright?

Trying desperately to think of the politest way to say tell and you're a dead man, Addie nodded and leaned back onto her previous spot on the couch. "Yeah, it happens sometimes. I'm cool, really. It's no big deal."

David nodded.

"Okay... if you're sure."

He sat back in his seat again, but scrunched himself in the corner, determined not to make things even more uncomfortable than they already were.

Lil managed not to either rolle her eyes again, or sigh, barely. Still, she was sure by the time they go to the cantina scene, Addie would be sucked in enough that she'd have forgotten.

"You want some water, or do you just wanna keep watching?"

"I'm good, really, I just wanna watch the movie." And forget that ever happened.

"Okey-doke. Leia is such a badass, anyway..." Lil grinned, as she his play, because, Leia. How could anyone not want to be Leia?

David smiled nervously. He leaned back, trying to seem cool, but he knew this was going to be the longest, most awkward movie-watching session of his life.

He sighed and glanced over at Addie, who was studiously avoiding looking at him. He supposed it could be worse.

He couldn't, for the life of him, figure out how, but he supposed there had to be some way.

Right?
