A: Beatrice Parkes. With the gaming group she goes by Bea, and on the Lacrosse team she went by Killer. Her foster mother Petra called her Bizzy-Bee. She refuses to answer to Trisha.

A: Brown and brown, though she has been known to dye her hair blond with black stripes... yeah, just the one time, and it was a horrible idea.

A: Bea has high cheekbones, which have in the past made folks ask her if she has native american heritage. She just shrugs.

A: Bea has a number of small scars on her knees, elbows and forearms from playing lacrosse, and general running around and being highly physical in fields. She has a small triangle-shaped scar on her abdomen from where her appendix was removed, and now she has scars on her left knee from where it was reconstructed.
Bea also has a wine stain birthmark in the shape of Peru on her left ankle, and freckles on her right shoulder blade that form a perfect Big Dipper.
Q: Who are your character’s friends and family? Who does she surround herself with? Who are the people your character is closest to? Who does she wish she were closest to?
A: Her foster mothers Petra and Vani are her family now. She is closest these days to the gaming group, and spends most of her time with them. Sometimes she wishes she were still close enough with the other members of the lacrosse team to be welcomed among them, but her aggression on the field left the other players slightly in awe of her, and so she never really got a chance for them to know her as a person.

A: Bea was born in pennsylvania, and grew up in and around the DFW area of Texas. She supposes Dallas is as much her home as anywhere else, but since she moved 18 and Petra and Vani moved closer to the Tyler area.

A: When Bea is really pissed off, she goes to the Rec center and heads straight for the punching bags. She beats out her frustration on the bag, using her fists and shoulders to slam it around, until she's completely exhausted. Then she jogs at least a mile, and takes a long, hot shower. If she's still angry after all that, she drives out to the country blasting angry music until she feels better.
Q: What is her biggest fear? Who has she told this to? Who would she never tell this to? Why?
A: Her biggest fear these days is that she'll disappoint Vani and Petra, especially by getting angry and hurting someone she loves. She's only ever told Vani about it, and that's when Vani enrolled her in boxing lessons so she would learn exactly how much damage she could do to another person, and more importantly how much she could take, and to drill into habit and muscle memory exactly when to leave an opponent alone, so that if she ever did go nuts she wouldn't cause permanent damage.
She would never tell this to Aimee and Connie, because of all of the group she sees them as the farthest away from her own internal rage, and she doesn't want to scare them.

She did some experimenting with girls in middle school and early high school, but eventually had to admit that it's just not her thing, despite her wanting to be as much like her moms as possible. There were a couple of boys who asked her out in high school, but mostly on dares, since she was already as tall or taller than some of her teachers. She had a major crush on the girl who first taught her to play lacrosse, one that lasted for years, but they were never anything more than friends and teammates. She hasn't really dated as an adult, and so hasn't had a chance to have her heart broken.

A: Mostly there's food that Ronnie puts on the list. Bea gives her a portion of her paycheck every two weeks for groceries, and eats whatever's put in front of her. Of her own, she buys plenty of eggs, peanut butter, and fresh fruit.
Her bedroom floor is pretty clean. She's probably got a sock or two that's missed the hamper, but that's about it.
In her garbage can (I assume the one in her bedroom) she doesn't have much. The occasional snack wrapper, pencil shavings, hair from her brush, nothing that goes bad. That she puts in the kitchen trash, even if it's 4 in the morning and she's drunk off her ass.

A: Bea wears athletic shoes, and colorful knee socks. The shoes that are her favorites are her practice cleats, which were signed by all the people on her HS varsity lacrosse team.
Q: When your character thinks of her childhood kitchen, what smell does she associate with it? Sauerkraut? Oatmeal cookies? Paint? Why is that smell so resonant for her?
A: Before Vani and Petra, the thin smell of sour beer. After them, dirt and infant formula. Petra loved to garden, and she had a row of tomato plants on the window above the sink, where the sunlight would warm the soil and the subtle smell would pervade the whole kitchen. Aside from herself, her moms fostered only infants and toddlers, usually 2 or 3 at a time, so they always had batches of formula mixed up.
Q: Your character is doing intense spring cleaning. What is easy for her to throw out? What is difficult for her to part with? Why?
A: Bea has no problem throwing almost anything away. She's not used to having a lot of possessions, and enjoys cutting things down to the basics. She has a hard time getting rid of photographs, so she never does, and instead keeps them in boxes stacked in her closet. She keeps her most important photos, papers, and a charm bracelet that Petra gave her on her 10th birthday tucked in with emergency rations and camping gear in a bug-out bag in that same closet. It makes her feel secure.

A: When she had just moved into Petra and Vani's place, Petra was making spaghetti for dinner and Bea was running around causing mischief in the kitchen. Petra turned around to scold her while holding a wooden spoon, and Bea flinched and covered her head. Petra was shocked, put down the spoon, and dropped everything she was doing to talk to Bea about how she and Vani would never, ever hurt her in any way, even if they were angry. The talk was when Bea first began to believe that things really would be different at this new home, and the night ended with Bea on a step-stool learning how to make a good sauce.
